MatheConnect at the Day of Mathematics at TU Graz

The Day of Mathematics at TU Graz provided a fantastic opportunity to engage with current developments in mathematics and mathematics education. Exciting talks covered a wide range of perspectives—from theoretical approaches to practical applications in schools and universities.

Auch MathConnect MatheConnect was also part of the event. Katrin and Sandra presented the project and demonstrated how mathematics education can be enriched by addressing interdisciplinary topics. They explained the structure of MatheConnect—from students identifying relevant topics to conducting scientific analyses and developing interdisciplinary learning environments. The presentation also explored the broader question of how mathematics contributes to understanding our increasingly complex world.

A highlight of the session was the interactive participation of the audience: attendees had the chance to work on a mathematics problem that incorporated an interdisciplinary theme. This hands-on experience illustrated how such approaches can strengthen real-world connections in mathematics education and challenge students to think in new ways.

The Day of Mathematics was a valuable opportunity for us to present our project, gain new insights, and exchange ideas with other researchers and educators. We are taking many exciting impulses with us and look forward to further developing MatheConnect!
